Want to speak to someone?

Our Drop-in Service provides an opportunity for you to have a conversation with one of our advisers to assess how the service can best meet your present needs. We may refer you to appropriate resources, activities or information, including small and large group sessions, talks, campus events and individual help sessions. Our Drop-in hours can be found below:


Highfield Drop-in Service (Term time hours):

These sessions will be taking place within the Careers Centre (Building 37, Highfield Campus). Check the About Us webpage for our address and a map of the campus.


Winchester School of Art Drop-in Service:

We will be operating a Drop-in Service at Winchester School of Art on the following dates:

Wednesday 16 October 11:00 - 13:00

Wednesday 30 October 11:30 - 13:30

Thursday 21 November 10:00 - 12:00

Wednesday 4 December 11:00 - 13:00

Friday 10 January 11:00 - 13:00 

These sessions will take place in the WSA Café.  Please note that these appointments are only available to students who are able to attend in person.  If you wish to make use of our Drop-in Service via telephone, please contact us during the Highfield Drop-in Service hours on the telephone number listed below.

Feedback on CVs/Covering Letters/Applications/Personal Statements: If you are seeking input on any of these, please print your documents in hard copy format, as well as the job description or course you are looking to apply for, and bring them all along to one of our Drop-in sessions so that we can refer you appropriately.

Graduates & Alumni: We are pleased to offer this service to all alumni of the University of Southampton for up to five years after graduation. Please register as a graduate on MyCareer before attending a Drop-in session.

Are you based away from campus? If you are based at another campus, studying via distance learning, or temporarily away from Southampton, you can contact us by phone during the advertised Highfield Drop-in sessions on +44 (0)23 8059 3501. Please note, if you contact us by telephone during a busy period there may be a delay responding to your query.

e-Advice is available for students who are:

To access the service, email your request and any relevant documents such as your CV to along with your student ID number. Please specify in the email that you would like to request an e-Advice appointment and explain the circumstances that would make you eligible for e-Advice. Once your eligibility has been confirmed, your email will be allocated to an adviser who will respond to you within 5 working days. You will receive via email the same level of advice you would have received if you had attended a Drop-in session in person.
