Student placements

MChem Industrial Placements

Our MChem Chemistry with research project abroad or industry experience, with Medicinal Sciences and with year-long industry experience programmes provide students with the opportunity to experience research in industry or academia beyond Southampton as a contributory part of the degree programmes. We provide expert assistance in helping students to secure their placement through a series of pre-placement workshops on CVs, interviews and assessment centres as well as through the efforts of our placements tutor.

MChem University Placements

MChem with with research project abroad or industry experience students in the final year of their degree have the opportunity to spend six months on a research project in the laboratories at the partner university and their placement is an assessed part of the MChem degree at Southampton.

Year in Employment for BSc and MChem Students

The Year in Employment is an opportunity to complete a work placement between your second and third year of study as part of your degree. This placement year is assessed and successful students will graduate with the Year in Employment recognised on their degree transcript. This option is available to students studying BSc Chemistry, MChem Chemistry, MSci Chemistry and Biochemistry, MChem Chemistry with Maths and MChem Chemistry with Medicinal Sciences.
