iPhD Web Science

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Web Science Innovation offered a four year integrated iPhD programme in Web Science aimed at providing graduates with socio-technical expertise to become leaders in the Digital Economy. Combining Masters and Doctoral study with additional tailored training and collaboration with partner organisations our studentships were funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the University.

Beginning in 2009 the course offered a one-year full-time taught MSc in Web Science providing a broad basis for understanding the technology of the Web and the social context in which the technology operates. This was followed by three years of interdisciplinary PhD research jointly supervised by academic staff from two or more subject areas and combined a wide range of disciplines to suit the individual research interests of each student, including Computer Science, Law, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Humanities, Business, Medicine, Education and Geography.

The majority of our students have graduated, but we continue to provide training and opportunities to our remaining students who are in final phase of their PhD's.

The programme is no longer accepting applications. You can find out more about available Postgraduate courses in Web Science via the University of Southampton Postgraduate degree course finder .
