Supplementary Exams

Referrals and Deferrals

The majority of Referral and Deferral exams will take place from Monday 17 August to Friday 28 August 2020 (possibly including Saturday 22 August).

You will receive an invitation from your faculty team to take nominated exams during June or July. You are then required to confirm online (SUSSED) whether you will take the exam, and will need to pay the required fee when instructed. Your faculty will provide full details.

If you are expecting to take exams in the Supplementary period and have not received notification by the middle of July, we strongly advise that you contact your faculty immediately by phone to check your status. Failure to receive notification because your address/email details are not up to date will not be considered as a special case.

Referral – The term Referral is used when you have not met the pass criteria of a module and have to undertake re-assessment before the start of the next academic year in order to progress to the next stage of your course or gain your final award.

Deferral – A Deferred examination is the sitting of an examination at a time other than the original scheduled time/date. Due to some special considerations, you may be sitting the exam under mitigated circumstances; this is when your faculty have agreed you are re-sitting your examination as if for the first time.
