Dr Ben Chadwick is Programme Lead of the BM4 Programme within Medicine at the University of Southampton.

Academic qualifications:
1998 - BM University of Southampton
2002 - MRCP

Ben Chadwick came to Southampton in 1993 as an aspiring medical student, mostly completely by chance. He survived five years of medical school, and qualified as a doctor in 1998. Since then he has spent ten years training in the Wessex region, and was appointed as a Consultant in Acute Medicine at Southampton General Hospital in 2008.

Since late 2008, he has enjoyed a teaching role with the University of Southampton, and now functions as the Lead of the BM4 programme. He also acts as the Training Programme Director for Acute Medicine specialist training in the Wessex Deanery, and chairs the Specialist Advisory Committee for Acute Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians

He works clinically on the Acute Medicine Unit at Southampton, where you may come across him late into the evening looking slightly harassed. However, if approached, he promises to try and teach you something…….

I am responsible for the smooth running of the BM4 course, in conjunction with the Programme Deputy. I co-ordinate year two of the BM4 programme, and also have an overview of assessment in the programme, particularly the OSCE examinations.
