Wessex NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Practice
Dr Christopher Wilcox is a Wessex GP trainee, and a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow at the University of Southampton.
Dr Christopher Wilcox is an ACF in General Practice with a particular interest in paediatrics, infectious diseases and medical education. He qualified from Cardiff University, and completed the academic foundation programme at Southampton General Hospital. He then took up a clinical research fellow post at the Southampton NIHR Clinical Research Facility, where he was principal investigator for projects related to antenatal vaccination, and worked on various early-phase vaccine clinical trials and human challenge studies.
He started Wessex GP training in 2019, and is involved in research based at the Department of Primary Care and Population Sciences, and University Hospital Southampton. Current projects include ongoing work in the field of antenatal vaccination, as well interventions to reduce antibiotic prescribing.
