Dr Emily Lyness MBCHB MPHID MRCP
Visiting Academic

I am aVisiting Academic with the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education and a GP trainee working in Dorset. I completed a Master’s in Public Health and International Development during intercalated year from my medical degree, and gained an insight into Public Health research whilst carrying out projects in Kenya and Ghana.
Since qualification I have pursued an interest in quality improvement and clinical research within my hospital medicine training. I decided to focus on Primary Care research to complement both my academic and clinical interest as a medical generalist.
I am interested in research promoting self-management of disease and I am involved with the Empathica Trial (Expectation Management for Patients in Primary Care: Developing and Feasibility Testing a New Digital Intervention for Practitioners). I will be carrying out patient interviews to understand further the role of expectation management within the consultation.
