Dr Richard Clarke is a Health Psychologist with a background in Psychological Research Methods.

Richard recently completed his PhD with the Vaccine Confidence Project at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where his research focused on the vaccine information-seeking behaviour of women in regard to the antenatal pertussis vaccination program.

His broader research interests include vaccine hesitancy, health information-seeking behaviour, decision conflict, the role of trust in healthcare and meta-research.

Within his role at Southampton Richard is helping to administer and write up the findings of the ROT-Covid-19 survey.

Vaccine Information-Seeking Behaviour: His PhD research focused on how women look for additional information related to the antenatal pertussis vaccination during pregnancy and how such information seeking interacts with trust held in healthcare professionals and the wider healthcare system.

Covid-19 vaccine acceptance: Richard has recently co-authored two mixed-method papers on vaccination during the Covid-19 pandemic. One on routine vaccination during the March-June lockdown in 2020 and the other on acceptance and barriers to a future Covid-19 vaccine.

Retrospective Survey of Prevention, Treatment, Occurrence and Outcomes of Covid-19 in the community (RTO-Covid-19)

This is a survey about what people have done to try and prevent and treat Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
