Strength through professional partnerships

We are proud of our strong relationships with the NHS and other healthcare organisations at home and overseas. They want to work with us because of our reputation for high quality research-led education; they know Southampton graduates are second-to-none.

Through our partnerships with healthcare employers and other organisations, we aim to develop individuals to become key clinical leaders who will create innovative working environments. We want to spread our research findings to a wider audience through technological and knowledge transfers.

We see our former students, our alumni, as key partners. We are developing professional interest networks and communities of practice so we can all learn from each other's experiences.

Most employers, including the NHS and social services, now recognise that to do their jobs well, people working in all professions need to keep learning throughout their career. Continuous Professional Development is an important way of sharing ideas, learning new skills, updating old ones and refreshing interest and enthusiasm.

Innovative education

Health Sciences at the University of Southampton has a well-respected reputation for the high priority it affords to relationship management, employer engagement and working in partnership. It is recognised by health care providers in the region as a ‘Can Do' organisation and, increasingly, this approach is replicated nationally and internationally.

Healthcare consultancy

Increasingly our expertise is sought to work together with employers to shape improvements to health and social care delivery, both through the CPD routes described above and by offering bespoke consultancy initiatives.

“Our education benefits from close partnership with practice settings and clinical leaders who enjoy joint appointments with us”
