  • The University is preparing for confirmation and clearing and extensive work has been done since results were released to the University ahead of results day on Thursday 15 August. This has focused on confirmation for applications at agreed levels, and on results day. The University will be in confirmation and clearing on Thursday 15 August and expects a considerable number of universities to do the same. This is as a result of softer demand than expected from domestic UK applicants and lower levels of applications from international students. UEB recognised the significant work done by colleagues across Faculties and Professional Services over the full recruitment cycle and the intensive work done over the last few days, including last weekend, to receive, assess and review results and confirm responses and actions for which it was very grateful. Senior management would be working with colleagues to optimise the intake and asked colleagues to be as flexible as possible. It would then be looking at the short- and medium-term implications once the overall recruitment position is known.
  • UEB received and supported a proposal to re-name the Watersports Centre, on the basis that this proposal would go on to Gift and Naming Committee as a formal proposal.
  • A new format Risk Register was presented to UEB. This identified the twenty most significant strategic risks for the University, and mitigations to manage these risks. The Risk Register will be reviewed regularly in order to ensure that the University is considering how to identify and respond to key risks associated with its operation and delivery of the University strategy.

The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday 20 August and there will be a break of one week ahead of the following UEB, scheduled for Tuesday 3 September.
