Aims and Objectives

Module Aims

To develop postgraduate students' ability to present their ongoing research to a professional audience, and learn from feedback. The class has no assessment specific to it: assessment on PhD/MPhil is by submission of thesis. Class delivers knowledge and skills that assist in preparation for thesis writing.

Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Enhancement of ability to complete a satisfactory PhD thesis in philosophy
  • Ability to prepare and present your own research to a professional audience
  • Learning to modify your research and presentation style in response to constructive feedback
Transferable and Generic Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Gaining confidence in preparing and delivering a presentation

Syllabus

The syllabus is dictated by the research of the particular students attending the seminar at any time. They present their own ongoing PhD research.
