Civil engineers develop new design methods, materials and construction techniques to help fix problems the world faces. On our civil engineering courses, learn while doing practical project work using our design studios and materials, geotechnics and large structures testing labs. Undergraduate students may be eligible for an annual bursary of £1,650 from The Southampton University Corporate Civil Engineering Scheme (SUCCESS). Our graduates make a difference in roles at organisations such as Atkins, Balfour Beatty and Transport for London.

Helping students develop into the next generation of engineers is a great part of my job. I share my industry experiences to help you find your own passion and direction.
I work closely with students on the vital question of how to design and build infrastructure and buildings so they use as little energy as possible.
I’ve pioneered the livestreaming of on-campus teaching sessions to allow you to join remotely and interact with academics in real-time.
