Accommodation for international and pre-sessional students

As an International student, you are guaranteed accommodation with us if you apply for accommodation before 1 August in the year your degree course will begin.

Why stay in University accommodation?

Choosing to stay in accommodation managed by the University has lots of benefits, including:

  • no application fees - it costs nothing to make an application

  • no deposits for any of our accommodation. We ask for prepayments from returning students and postgraduates, which are paid when an offer is accepted, and then deducted from the first instalment of accommodation fees

  • no guarantors required to accept a contract, making it easy and hassle-free to book with us

  • no-penalty cancellation if you are unable to attend the University due to circumstances beyond your control, such as not meeting the conditions of your academic offer or international travel restrictions - just let us know as soon as you can

  • free airport transfer from London Heathrow Airport via the Meet and Greet service

Guaranteed accommodation for your pre-sessional English course

We welcome hundreds of pre-sessional students to our accommodation each year, providing a convenient, safe environment in which to settle into life in the UK, meet classmates and become part of our residential community.

Pre-sessional accommodation fees include:

  • a private single self-catered room in a flat of 6-8 rooms, sharing a large kitchen with other pre-sessional students

  • a bedding pack for you to keep including duvet (quilt), pillow, sheets and a towel

  • a kitchen pack shared with your flat, including kettle, toaster, rice cooker, crockery, pans and cutlery

  • all bills, including heating, water, internet and basic contents insurance

  • a Unilink bus pass, and dedicated buses to take you from your accommodation to your classes

Contract lengths are designed to meet the dates of the 6- and 11-week pre-sessional English courses, and join up with the start dates of accommodation contracts for the next academic year.

Find out what accommodation is available, see prices and apply now on our online booking system.

For courses starting in summer 2021, a 10-day quarantine period is included in the contract length. We will provide you with assistance during the quarantine period.

Staying on in halls of residence after your pre-sessional course

Many students apply for accommodation for their degree at the same time as applying for pre-sessional accommodation.

You need to apply by 1 August in the year your degree starts to secure a guaranteed place in our accommodation. Accommodation offers are sent out towards the end of the pre-sessional course.

If you do not meet the conditions for your degree course, your accommodation booking is cancelled and any pre-payment refunded.

Private accommodation options

You may prefer to rent accommodation that is not managed by the University.
