Dr Michele Zilletti is a Research Fellow in Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton.

Michele Zilletti graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 from the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Italy. As part of his studies he spent a year at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany funded by Socrates Erasmus scholarship as postgraduate student.

In 2008 he joined the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton, UK and in 2011 he received the PhD degree with a thesis titled “Self-tuning vibration absorbers”. The research project was funded by the Marie Curie Smart Structures network as part of the European Commission 7th Framework Programme.

From 2012 to 2013 he worked as research fellow at the University of Udine, Italy focussing his research on semi-active vibration control using switching control techniques.

In 2014 he was appointed as research fellow and is currently working on Engineering Nonlinearity programme funded by the EPSRC on active noise and vibration control of nonlinear systems.

Research interests

Dr Zilletti’s research interests focus on the active noise and vibration control and energy harvesting for ambient vibration. Within these research areas he is specifically interested in:

  • Industrial applications of active noise and vibration control.
  • Algorithm development for active and semi-active noise and vibration control.
  • Electromechanical transducers for energy harvesting
  • Nonlinear dynamics

The research is supported by the EPSRC through the Engineering Nonlinearity programme grant (http://www.engineeringnonlinearity.ac.uk/)
