Mr. Christopher Knuth BEng, MSc
Postgraduate Research Student

Christopher Knuth is a Postgraduate Research Student within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton. He is currently investigating in the modelling of rolling noise from rotating railway wheelsets.
Christopher studied Building Physics at the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart in Germany. During his second and third year he worked as a student research assistant in the Building Acoustics group at the Institute for Applied Research of his university. After his second year, he joined the Acoustics / Noise Control group at the swiss research facility EMPA for a six-month internship, to gather experience in the field of vibroacoustics. In 2019 he finished his undergraduate with a project on the determination of impact sound insulation of building elements using transfer functions.
He joined the University of Southampton in 2019 for a Masters in Acoustical Engineering and graduated with his project on the sound radiation of thin stiffened plates subject to mechanical point excitation.
Since 2020, he proceeds as a postgraduate research student at the University of Southampton in the field of railway noise.
