I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at the University of Southampton.

I graduated from the University of Southampton with BA Hons in German with Linguistic and Language Studies, during which time I spent a year in Upper Austria teaching English at a school. I then completed a TESOL certificate and went on to teach in a language school for 2 years. In 2004, I graduated from the University of Southampton with MA in English Language Teaching. In 2019 I was awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (now the Advanced HE) and in 2021 I was nominated for a Vice-Chancellor's Award as part of the Pre-sessional Team in the Teaching Innovation category. I am also a mentor on the University Mentoring Programme.

Research interests

My pedagogical research interests include: English for Academic Purposes (EAP); English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP); Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Learner Autonomy and Academic Integrity.

Since joining the University in 2004, I have been involved in teaching and leading on a number of in-sessional, pre-sessional and credit-bearing courses. I am currently teaching on the year-long Pre-sessional programmes, of which I am Programme Lead, the EAP/ESAP in-sessional support programme for International students, English Stage 5 as module lead, and tutor on the Harbin project currently teaching students online in China (a Joint Education Institute (JEI) with the Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in Manchuria, China).
