About this course

This is aimed to be an introductory course to various aspects of radiochemistry and the content will include:

  • principles of radiometric measurements including types of detectors
  • mathematical concepts in radiochemistry
  • general laboratory techniques
  • sample preparation
  • radiochemical separation techniques
  • liquid scintillation counting
  • quality control in a radiochemical laboratory
  • counting statistics, errors / uncertainties and limits of detection

This course is for new analysts, radiochemists and for anyone looking for refresher training.   

Learning and assessment

This in-person course at the University of Southampton's Waterfront Campus includes access to our on-site radioanalytical laboratories. You'll receive a copy of the notes and a certificate of attendance.
