Ocean and Earth science

Two students use a small handheld net to collect samples from a large aquarium tank full of sea life.
Explore the physics and biology of the oceans and discover the evolutionary process of the Earth. You’ll learn specialist skills to move into fields like geological surveying, marine science and conservation.

Study at our unique Waterfront Campus, based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS) - one of the world's largest research and training centres. Work alongside researchers and academics who are exploring today’s toughest challenges in fields like marine biochemistry, physical oceanography and ecology. You'll work in research vessels and take scientific cruises to give you vital practical experience. Our supervisors will mentor you throughout your studies as you gain the expertise needed to take the next steps in your career.
