Module overview
This module will build on Foundations for Occupational Therapy Practice and introduce you to a range of theories which underpin and support occupational therapy practice. The module also introduces you to systems thinking and how information (data) is used to understand occupational participation.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Create and share digital content using a range of collaborative tools and software to achieve goals.
- Demonstrate the ability to check the facts and evaluate any citations or references that are presented in a generative artificial intelligence (AI) response.
- Describe how design principles can be used to enable social and occupational participation.
- Key political, policy and sustainability agendas and explain how they influence occupational therapy.
- Demonstrate the selection and appropriate use of different types of data, to support occupational therapy practice.
- Key theories, models of practice and legal frameworks, and be able to describe how they impact on relevant, and contemporary practice.

Using Occupational Therapy models (for example PEOP) to analyse the impact of environments on occupation participation.

Policy in health and social care (including, sustainability and self-management)
Evaluating information and sources of information
Introducing digital practice , focused on digital inclusion, regulation and safety

The programme is built around the principles of spiral learning, utilising both pedagogical and andragogical approaches to teaching and learning. Throughout this module you will experience a mix of teaching modalities such as active and experiential learning, self-directed and collaborative learning, alongside traditional lectures and flipped classroom sessions.
