Module overview
In this module, we will look at the dominant traditions in the philosophy of social science and how these have shaped substantive research within the study of the social sciences. Furthermore, we will deal with the practical challenges of designing and conducting research, including defining research questions, identifying appropriate methods, research management and problem solving, writing up research, ethical issues, and thinking reflexively about research practice.
By the end of this module you should be able to design and produce an original and viable research proposal that demonstrates your understanding of the utility of concrete methodological approaches and the appropriateness of the same for your concrete research question.
