Module overview
Modern vehicles rely on sophisticated electronic systems to improve safety, efficiency, comfort and environmental performance. From engine management and braking systems to advanced driver assistance and electrified powertrains, electronics are central to the design of today's automobiles. This module develops the knowledge needed to understand and engineer these increasingly intelligent vehicle systems.
You will explore the operation and integration of electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems used in modern road vehicles, developing an understanding of how sensors, actuators, controllers and communication systems work together to optimise vehicle performance. Through engineering analysis and system-level thinking, you will strengthen your ability to evaluate and improve automotive electronic systems while considering their impact on safety, efficiency and sustainability.
By the end of the module, you will be able to analyse the electronic architecture of modern vehicles and appreciate the technologies driving the future of connected, automated and electrified transportation
