Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a knowledge of research in health psychology and critically evaluate some key studies
- Describe and evaluate key health psychology theories
- Apply health psychology theories and research findings to address health-related issues
- Outline the types of topics and problems health psychology is concerned with
Syllabus
Students will explore theories, research findings and applications of health psychology as related to a range of topics such as; behaviour and health outcomes, behaviour change techniques, interventions (including those delivered digitally via websites and/or smartphone apps), psychological adjustment to chronic illness, pain/symptom perception, sexual health and placebo responses.

Teaching and learning methods
Teaching and learning methods include lectures and small group seminars or tutorials. Students will be expected to read all core readings and some additional readings and, where relevant, to make use of the internet resources for seeking further information.
