Research project: The Careers Project

Currently Active:

In spring 2008, around 450 health and social care undergraduates, studying at the Universities of Southampton and Portsmouth were recruited to the Careers Project.  Since then, the career pathways of this group have been tracked using annual questionnaire surveys.  Of particular interest to this study are the factors which influence the career decisions of health and social care graduates and why some graduates choose to leave their professions.

Project Overview

The main project is a longitudinal study involving questionnaire surveys.  In addition a qualitative study of attrition is being carried out, via semi-structured interviews, with study participants who have left or are considering leaving their profession.
