Mrs Marta Crosby
Director of Programmes, Modern Languages and Linguistics

Mrs Marta Crosby is a Programme Leader for SPLAS in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton.
I studied Filología Inglesa at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where I also completed my qualification in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. I then moved to the UK to work as a Language Assistant at the University of Wolverhampton and afterwards, as an Adult Education Tutor at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, before returning to the University of Wolverhampton as a Visiting Lecturer. In these posts, I have demonstrated my pedagogical skills in the design and delivery of teaching materials and assessments. In 1998, I took up a post as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Southampton, where I later became a Senior Teaching Fellow in Spanish.
During this time, I have completed an MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching, and I have collaborated in several projects such as the Opening the Door to Language Learning Project in 2003, a programme funded by the European Commission to help promote language learning by making university language learning resources and support available to a wider public. In 2008, I became the Head of Section for SPLAS (Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies).
