About

I am a Research Technician in the Imaging, Microscopy and Cytometry (IMC) Facility, based in Building 85 within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton.

My role focuses on providing specialist support in flow cytometry and imaging cytometry, working with researchers across multiple disciplines to design, optimise, and deliver high-quality experiments.

I support a range of advanced cytometry platforms, including:

  • 2-laser Guava flow cytometer
  • 4-laser Attune CytPix imaging flow cytometer
  • 5-laser Bigfoot spectral cell sorter
  • Evident ScanR high-content imaging system

I work closely with researchers at all levels to provide guidance on experimental design, sample preparation, fluorophore selection, and data analysis strategies, helping to ensure robust and reproducible results. I also deliver training in both theoretical principles and practical operation, enabling users to confidently carry out their own experiments.

In addition to cytometry, I provide support for a range of microscopy and imaging systems within the IMC, including:

  • Olympus IX83 widefield fluorescence microscope
  • Olympus/Yokogawa IX83 spinning disk confocal microscope
  • Leica SP8 and Stellaris scanning confocal microscopes
  • Nikon upright histology microscope
  • LI-COR Odyssey infrared western blot scanner

I am particularly interested in the development of high-throughput and imaging-based cytometry workflows, including the application of AI-driven analysis methods to explore cellular heterogeneity and identify subpopulations within complex samples.
