Pina joined the University of Southampton in 2004 when she did an MA in the Archaeology of Rome and Its Provinces with a focus on archaeological ceramics. After completion, Pina worked on the University's archaeological projects and translated archaeological reports into Italian. In 2007, she was given the opportunity to undertake a PhD in ceramics from the site of Portus-Rome, a project which she truly enjoyed and which formed her as an independent researcher, whilst giving her opportunities for teaching and tutoring students.
Pina's enthusiasm and interest for teaching came about through intensive work on the Pre-sessional language course at the University of Southampton, and while teaching the 3rd year undergraduate module in Archaeology: Pottery under the Microscope.
In the Pre-sessional language course, Pina was a Reading and Writing tutor for seven years. In Archaeology, she led the module.
In 2020, Pina landed her current job with CHEP, through which she can continue to fulfil her passion for teaching.
