Biography

I joined Southampton in 2019 as Professor of Perfomance Writing and Head of Winchester School of Art (WSA) - a role I held for 6 years, whilst also seving as an Associate Director of the Web Science Institute, member of the John Hansard Galllery Strategic Board, and Co-Artistic Director of the university's AI & Arts Festival. I was an International Visiting Fellow at Nanjing University's Institute for Global Humanities in the 2024/25 academic year. I am currently WSA's Early Career Colleague Champion and Deputy Director of The Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities (SIAH). Prior to joining Southampton I was Director of Education and Co-Executive Director of the Belarus Free Theatre and led several Art Schools.

I am a poet, artist, and occasional essayist. I also work in curatorial and editorial roles. My work is primarily concerned with poetry and poetics in the 'expanded field', particularly their relationship to visual and performance art, and matters of social context. This work is increasingly caught up with adjacent activities in psychoanalysis as both a social and clinical practice.
