Nawras is a Postgraduate Researcher based in Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on how the wider contextual factors affect the emergence and development of Social Entrepreneurship (SE) in complex and turbulent political contexts, and examines the nature and real potential of SE to contribute towards change, sustainable development and peacebuilding.
Nawras’s current research examines how the wider contextual factors affect the emergence and development of Social Entrepreneurship (SE) in complex institutional and turbulent political contexts. It focuses on understanding the nature and real potential of SE to contribute towards sustainable development, reconstruction and peacebuilding. Qualitative research methods will be employed to generate knowledge and understanding from real life experiences of social entrepreneurs and their ecosystem stakeholders.
Having worked for over 6 years in the Social Entrepreneurship (SE) sector in a complex and turbulent political region, taking on leading roles in the development and resource mobilization area, and witnessing various efforts to support this vital sector including success and hindrance, Nawras decided to pursue a PhD in the SE field to examine its nature and real potential towards change, sustainable development and peacebuilding. Nawras has MSc in Management (International Business).
