Tongming is a PhD student in sociology and social policy within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton. Her research interests are in diversity and interdisciplinary. She currently focuses on rural-urban migration, return migration, labour migration and rural tourism. She does research in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Prior to joining the University of Southampton, Tongming received her MSc in East Asia Business from the University of Sheffield. During her MSc, she has already focused on rural-urban migration, urban study and rural development in China.
Outside of academia, Tongming is keen on public welfare and volunteer activities. Tongming had been a training coordinator and volunteer educator of rural educational assistance in China (2018).
