About

Nicole is a Second Year Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology PhD student at the University of Southampton funded by the ESRC South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership. Nicole is currently working as a Policy Associate and Seminar Demonstrator at the University of Southampton alongside her PhD studies.

Her passion for the prevention of violence against women and girls, domestic abuse and child sexual abuse led to the development of her PhD project. Nicole's research explores "Protecting Children from family harm through RSHE and PSHE education". Her research considers how Relationships, Sexual and Health Education (RSHE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) can be utilised and improved to educate young children about serious topics such as bodily autonomy, family relationships and intra-familial child sexual abuse. She aims to understand how PSHE and RSHE guidelines from the government can be improved or made clearer to support schools and allow for consistency across the country.
