Biography

Daisy Blackburn is a PhD student in Geography in the School of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on 'left-behind' places and their relation to democratic participation and political engagement.

Her research interests include:
- Coastal communities in the UK
- Place-based political geography
- The rise of right-wing populism in the UK and USA
- Spatial identity, the value of local community, and the sociological impact of regional politics

Her PhD supervisors are Professor Nick Clarke and Professor Will Jennings.
