Dr Conor McHugh is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southampton.

Before taking up his post at Southampton in 2011, Conor was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institut Jean Nicod in Paris. He did his PhD at the University of Edinburgh. He originally comes from Drogheda, in Ireland.

Research interests

Conor has published on a range of topics in epistemology, philosophy of mind, and value theory, including the nature of belief and of attitudes more generally, normativity, reasons and reasoning, mental agency, doxastic non-voluntarism, and self-knowledge. He is currently working on a monograph on normative properties, co-authored with Jonathan Way.

He is happy to supervise research students working on topics such as the above.
