Peter gained accreditation in medical oncology in 1994. He has extensive experience in managing malignant lymphomas, including high dose therapy and stem cell transplantation.

Behind the research: Gareth Griffiths
In 2014, Gareth returned to Southampton as a professor of clinical trials. He took on directorship of the clinical trials unit. He found passion for cancer research everywhere, and wanted to help it develop and expand.

Behind the research: Mark Cragg
Mark uncovers how the immune system interacts with cancer cells and how it can be harnessed in the form of immunotherapy to treat malignancy, particularly by using drugs called monoclonal antibodies.

Behind the research: Tim Fenton
Tim joined the CCI in 2022. He studies a group of seven genes called APOBECs and their role in how successful cancer treatments are.

Behind the research: Sally Ward and Raimund Ober
Sally and Raimund’s work uses antibody engineering, fluorescence microscopy and mouse models. Their potential antibody-based therapeutics have moved into clinical trials through licensing to pharmaceutical companies.

Behind the research: Sean Lim
Sean is funded by a Cancer Research UK Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship, helping her to bridge the divide between laboratory and clinic.

Behind the research: Max Crispin
Max is an associate member of the CCI. His research into breast cancer is funded by Against Breast Cancer.
