Research project

Development of novel dynamometry for the assessment of muscle strength and endurance in epidemiological studies on older people

Project overview

This project aimed to develop a suitable measurement device for assessing muscle strength and endurance in older adults and involved collaborators from the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Resource Centre and the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton.

Project Overview

The aims of this research were: (1) to develop portable equipment for measuring quadriceps muscle strength and endurance; (2) to evaluate measurements of hand grip endurance obtained from two commercially available grip dynamometers.
