Project overview

The aim of this project is to complete a critical study of Arthur Schopenhauer's aesthetic theory and philosophy of art. The aim is to identify what is distinctive and original about these, to give an account of their place in the history of philosophical aesthetics, and to explore the extent to which they survive their foundation in Schopenhauer's largely discredited metaphysics.
