Project overview
This project examines how generative AI is changing the use, interpretation, and teaching of statistical methods in health research and health professions education. It focuses on the risks of plausible but methodologically inappropriate AI-generated analyses, the statistical judgement needed to evaluate such outputs, and approaches for strengthening statistical literacy among health professionals and researchers. The work will explore practical strategies for critically appraising AI-generated analyses, recognising limitations in study design and inference, and identifying when specialist statistical input is required. Planned outputs include scholarly commentary, educational guidance, and peer-reviewed publications.
