Research project

Women Composers of African decent

Project overview

Without research on women composers of African descent, arts organisations, schools, colleges, universities, and the general public are unable to develop knowledge and awareness of these lesser known histories.

The author's work (academic outputs, through TV, radio and other media, public performances, national and international collaborations and partnerships, and consultancy work) and research findings and methodologies have become part of the public conversation around these historical figures.

Individuals and communities are subsequently empowered to move forward with a more diverse understanding of the classical music past (which typically does not advance diverse perspectives).
