About the Fashion and textile workshops

Our workshops contain a wide range of facilities and equipment to meet the needs of students specialising in fashion, knitwear, printed textiles and woven textiles.

Facilities and equipment

Fashion design:

  • industrial sewing machines
  • multi-thread overlockers for woven and knitted fabrics
  • professional dress stands for menswear and womenswear
  • fusible presses and vacuum presses

Knitwear:

  • computerised Shima Seiki knitting machines across 3 gauges
  • Dubied knitting machines
  • linkers
  • manual knitting machines

Printed textiles:

  • dedicated studios
  • Mimaki digital printer
  • heat-transfer printer
  • large hand screenprinting tables with adjoining screen exposing rooms and dedicated dye lab

Woven textiles:

  • Thread Controller (TC2) digital Jacquard loom
  • computerised dobby looms
  • manual looms

Creative services centre

The creative services centre enables students from all programmes to submit artwork through an online system to be printed or treated using our specialist printers and equipment.
