Southampton Geospatial Computing facility

About the Southampton Geospatial Computing facility

This facility provides higher specification geospatial computational facilities for teaching students. Including running modelling, visualisation, image processing and Geographic Information System (GIS) software packages.

It also aligned with the School’s “one Community” student strategy which aims to provide a physical centre of focus for our students in Building 44. Outside of timetabled sessions and exam periods SoGES UG, PGT and PGR students all have access to room 44/1061 via the external card controlled access door from 0800-2300 7 days a week.

The room layout creates a modern and inviting space with 82 places for students and the wider University community, for both timetabled teaching and extracurricular activity (e.g. independent/group study, CPD events). The design incorporates aspects to ensure accessibility for all learners (eg height adjustable desks).
