About the project
As a researcher on this project you will unlock the secrets of Earth's ancient supercontinent breakups and their profound impact on climate and biogeochemical cycles. The project combines cutting-edge plate tectonic modeling, geodynamics, and biogeochemical analysis, to decipher how tectonic cycles shaped Earth's surface environment and climate state.
The project aims to bridge the gap between global geotectonic models and regional observations. You will investigate ancient global cooling events and their influence on the evolution of the biosphere. You will look at the relationship between tectonic cycles, biogeochemical cycles, and climate. Your contributions will have broader implications for society and the environment. By deepening our understanding of how past events shaped Earth's climate, you'll contribute to ongoing efforts to address present-day environmental challenges and pave the way for a sustainable future.
You will gain invaluable skills and technical knowledge that will set you apart in both academia and industry. You will receive comprehensive training and expand your multi-disciplinary outlook through interactions with an extensive network of academic, research, and industry partners. You'll become a sought-after professional equipped to tackle complex environmental challenges by mastering cutting-edge tools such as:
- GPlates software for plate-tectonic reconstructions
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for geospatial data analysis
- Earth System modelling
- geodynamic modelling
