Equality, diversity and inclusion
We all benefit from the opportunity to work in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, responsive to our individual needs. Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is essential for delivering excellent education and research.
Collaboration and consultation is a core part of our Faculty strategy. We work with students, staff and external organisations to support our EDI environment. This network brings together student and staff working groups with a shared interest.
This all results in a Faculty rich in EDI representation across its schools.
Our latest activities
At our inaugural EDI day, we invited speakers from across different career levels and families to share their experience of working and studying at Southampton. The variety of talks was brilliant, covering topics like:
- practical steps to ensure inclusive meetings
- exemplars of co-created study materials
- the lived experiences of South Asian female doctors
Next, we want to establish a mentoring programme. The Faculty has given us funding for facilities and training so we can deliver high quality, in-person, one-on-one support.
Building a culture of trust
