I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of University of Southampton.

I have been involved with teaching English as a second language since 2002, having worked in Brazil and studied Modern Languages at the State University of Paraiba (UEPB). Later I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Leeds in Linguistics and Phonetics and RSA Cambridge CELTA at the Leeds Beckett University. I also hold an MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching from the University of Southampton.

I specialise in EAP Listening and Speaking, and my other current interests lie in the role of linguistics and intercultural communication in ESL, language assessment, materials design and classroom learning.

I currently teach on ENGL9001/ 9007 Language Stage 3 and ENGL9061/ 9062 English for Academic Study, which I also coordinate. I also contribute to a variety of courses on the University of Southampton’s in-sessional and pre-sessional programmes.

As well as being involved with English language provision, I have contributed to other activities at the University of Southampton, including continuing professional development (CPD) delivery, English as a medium of instruction (EMI) courses, materials design, syllabus and SoW development, assessment design and standardisation, especially when assessing listening and speaking skills. I have also worked for three consecutive years as course leader for the Listening and Speaking modules on Pre-sessional Course A and B (PRES0009/ PRES0003/ 0005/ 0011/ 0026/ 0030/ 0027/ 0031).
