MATH6068 Statistical Genetics

Module Overview

Statistical genetics has played a pivotal role in the discovery of genes that cause disease in humans. This module introduces the basic concepts and terms in genetics and demonstrates the use of statistical models to identify disease genes in humans.

To introduce the basic concepts and terms in genetics and some commonly used statistical models appropriate for the analysis of genetic data.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • • understand the basic concepts of genetics • know how to analyse the most usual forms of genetic linkage and allelic association data.
