Assignment B: Subject Pedagogy
The outcomes of the module are for students to submit an essay that includes two elements:
a) a literature review of the topic
b) a detailed Lesson Plan with commentary
This will be a subject-specific module and through lesson plan commentary the students will demonstrate how the literature links to lesson planning within their subject discipline. -

Assignment C: Practitioner Inquiry Project
The outcomes of this module are for students to engage in a small-scale practitioner inquiry project within their subject-disciple. There will be two elements:
a) An inquiry plan which will outline how the student will place the chosen aspect under scrutiny and develop a series of lessons to use during their school placement experience
b) An analysis of the inquiry which will include analysis of the methodology used, a discussion in relation to the literature and conclusion with implications for classroom practice. -

This module consists of a Professional Portfolio of Evidence from Teaching across all Placement Schools/Colleges. It is assessed against the Teachers’ Standards and is used to evidence that QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) has been met by the Trainee Teacher. -

Assignment D: Becoming a Teacher

The Student Assistantship is a four week clinical placement undertaken in the last six months of Final Year. It is a transitional bridge to prepare students for practicing as competent Foundation Doctors.
The module will normally take the format of a 4 week placement in one or more partner trusts. The timing will vary for different student groups and the teaching staff will vary for different practices and student groups. As is the nature of clinical placements, the exact learning experiences of each student will be variable however all students will receive the same broad opportunities sufficient to achieve the learning outcomes of the module and it is expected that students will take responsibility for making the most of the opportunities provided and being pro-active in securing experiences in areas in which they feel they are weak and/or they have had least learning experiences. -
