This research considers wave propagating in a fluid-structure coupled system by applying Wave Finite Element method (WFE).

This research considers wave propagating in a fluid-structure coupled system by applying Wave Finite Element method (WFE). The method involves forming the dynamic stiffness matrix using the conventional mass and stiffness matrices of a short section of the coupled system and post-processing the dynamic stiffness matrix to formulate the transfer matrix. Then, the dispersion relations of the wave can be obtained using an eigenvalue method in conjunction with a periodicity condition. All the calculations in this research are performed using MATLABTM. The future work of this research is to analyse a physiologically-plausible model of the cochlear amplifier that can be used to reproduce the features of normal and impaired hearing.
