Research interests

My main principle specialisms are in melodrama studies and Italian cinema. I have research interests in the aesthetics of cinema and film form, in horror and serial killer cinema, as well as issues of popular culture, genre, realism and methodologies of film analysis. I have a developing interest in Latin American and especially Brazilian cinema, as well as in journey narratives in cinema, and am developing a large-scale research project on theatricality as an idea that informs film.
