Mr Duncan D Hornby MSc, BSc (Hons)
Senior Research Fellow

Mr Duncan Hornby is a Senior Research Fellow within Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton. Duncan joined the GeoData team in 2004 as a GIS desktop Developer/Analyst.
He is an advanced user of Desktop ArcGIS (analysis \ geo-processing) and a developer in ArcObjects, VB .Net and Python. In 2014 Duncan became an ESRI certified ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop Developer Associate.
Duncan works on a wide range of projects related to forestry, rivers, marine traffic, census, historic monument recording, mobile mapping, land classification and poverty mapping. Many of these projects have involved development of bespoke tools or automation of geo-processing and analyses. Please browse the GIS section of the GeoData website for examples of these projects. I provide technical support to staff and students across the University.
As an Accredited River Habitat Surveyor Duncan has participated in local and national river surveys.
