This project evaluated the use of discovery interview (DI) technique in two NHS trusts in exploring and improving aspects  of dignity in inpatient care for older people.

An action research project aimed at developing and evaluating the use of discovery interview (DI) technique in two NHS trusts.   Staff in both trusts were trained to conduct DIs with older people about their care experiences and to use the findings to prompt staff reflection and action to improve aspects of dignity in inpatient care for older people.  Qualitative interviews with staff were used to explore the processes and outcomes of change.  Data analysis is now underway.
