Biography
Dr Nicola Abba trained as a clinical psychologist at University College London, UK. She currently works as deputy director of cognitive behaviour therapy (SMH) training at the University of Southampton, UK, and as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the National Health Service. Dr Abba’s doctoral research used grounded theory methodology to develop the first psychological theory of how people learn to respond mindfully to distressing psychosis experiences. Over 20 years of clinical practice she has focused on both mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy approaches to working with people with psychosis and other severe and enduring mental health problems, particularly in acute in-patient settings.
