Biography
I am a Roman archaeologist and ancient historian working on the societies of Rome's western provinces. Following a degrees in Classics and Roman archaeology, my doctoral research focussed on how the peoples of Iberia and Britain encoutered Roman ways of living in their daily lives. Since then, I have focused on questions of the integration of peoples into the power structures of the empire, particularly in urban settings. This has led to a further interest in other aspects of identity and how these changes as a result of Roman conquest. In particular, I am interested in gender identies and the possible persistance of pre-conquest gender norms in Roman Iberia.
